The Falls of Lora are well known to many canoeists
- a famous tide race at Connel, near Oban in Scotland. On the outgoing tide, water from Loch Etive pours through the narrows to create a superb set of waves and eddies on the North bank under the bridge.
It is less well known that on the flood tide, you can get some get some excellent whirlpools, on the South bank, East of the bridge, as this photo shows.
Big tides are best.
